THE UNIFYING THEME of “Show Me Yours” is not readily apparent, until you look closely. The exhibition features paintings by three emerging artists—Brittney Leeanne Williams, Jake Troyli, and Bianca Nemelc—each offering a unique interpretation of the nude form through the lens of identity. Rendered in electric pink, blue, and red, Williams depicts faceless, contorted female bodies that fold into themselves in a protective crouch, images in which she is personally invested. The gallery states, “Acting as an amalgamation of both the artist’s identity, as well as that of her female family members, these bodies serve as communal symbols of hope and love, pain and loss.” The group exhibition is presented alongside a solo show of Cheryl Pope whose presentation also considers the nude figure. Chicago-based Williams is in conversation with Pope on Saturday, July 27 at the gallery. CT
